MODERN ARCHITECTURE in Berlin

The Potsdamer Platz, once one of Berlin’s busiest places, was reduced by the war and the Berlin Wall running across it to a waste land. Only after the German reunification could the Potsdamer Platz gain its importance again, it became the creative ‘playground’ for a prestigious redevelopment projects, in which some of the world’s most famous architects participated. The tour will lead you along the remnants of the Wall, and will look at the architecture starting in the 60s and leading up to the latest buildings around the Leipziger Platz.

The streets and squares are laid out according to a geometrical urban design with an almost complete assembly of Gründerzeit buildings, which survived the bombing of Berlin in World War II..
